Rules & Automations

⦁ Lock/Unlock schedules allow users to configure doors to lock or unlock on specific day s of the week and times, or can be set to follow the business house previously set up on the account
⦁ Add an Access Control locking or unlocking schedule

⦁ Log into the Alarm.com customer website
⦁ Click Automation
⦁ Click Schedules
⦁ Click Add New Schedule
⦁ Create a name for the schedule
⦁ In Select Doors, click to select which doors will follow the schedule
⦁ In Choose Schedule Type, select either of the following
⦁ Use business hours to use the Business Hours schedule that is already created and enabled on the account
⦁ Create accustom schedule to configure a custom schedule for the rule

⦁ Click Save

⦁ Enable/configure business hours

⦁ Enable Group Business Hours

⦁ Log into the Alarm.com customer website
⦁ Verify the Enterprise Group is selected, and not a location name
⦁ If a location is selected, use the dropdown menu to select the Enterprise Group

⦁ Click Settings.
⦁ Click Business Hours.
⦁ Click an existing business hours template to edit existing hours, or click Create new template to set new business hours
⦁ Click to select Enable Business Hours.
⦁ Configure the business hours as desired for each day of the week

⦁ Click Copy to copy the selected business hours to other days of the week

⦁ Under Location Selection, click to select which locations the business hours apply to

⦁ If All Locations is selected, all locations under that Enterprise group will be selected
⦁ If Partial Access is selected, a pop-up window will appear allowing you to select which locations you would like to apply the business hours to
⦁ If No Locations is selected, none of the Enterprise locations will be given the selected business hours

⦁ Click Save

⦁ Enable Individual Location Business Hours

⦁ Log into the Alarm.com customer website.
⦁ Verify the individual location name is selected and not the Enterprise Group name
⦁ If an Enterprise Group is selected, use the dropdown menu to select the individual location

⦁ Click Settings
⦁ Click Business Hours
⦁ Click to select Enable Business Hours
⦁ Configure the business hours as desired for each day of the week

⦁ Click Copy to copy the selected business hours to other days of the week

⦁ Click Save

⦁ Create an Access Control holiday schedule

⦁ Log into the Alarm.com customer website
⦁ Click User Access
⦁ Click Actions, then click Manage Holidays
⦁ Click Add.
⦁ In the Holiday Name field, enter the desired name for the holiday
⦁ Select the date of the holiday
⦁ Click Done
⦁ In Access Plans to Pause, click to select either option for any Access Plans
⦁ Active for plans to still have access during holidays
⦁ Paused for plans that should not have access on holidays

⦁ Click Save

Disarm Alarm on Card Swipe or PIN Entry Rule

  • Disarm Alarm on card swipe or PIN entry
  • Disarm on card swipe or PIN entry is a rule that disarms your security system when valid credentials are presented at the door of your choice.
  • This rule can be configured to work on specific days of the week and times or can be set to function at all times.
  • The disarm on card swipe or PIN entry rule will not function if the door controller is without network connectivity.
  • To create a Disarm Alarm upon card swipe rule using the Alarm.com customer website
    1. Log into the Alarm.com customer website
    2. Click Automation
    3. In Rules, click Add New Rule
    4. Click when to select the trigger device and action
    5. Click Door, then click Next
    6. In Select Status, select either accessed, or Door Accessed with Double Swipe
    7. Select accessed to require a single card swipe or single PIN entry to trigger the disarm
    8. Select Door accessed with Double Swipe to require a double card swipe to trigger the disarm
    9. In Select Security Level, use the dropdown menu to select the desired User Group that will be eligible to trigger the rule
    10. Click Done
    11. Click then to select the trigger device and action
    12. In Select Feature, click Security Panel, then click Next
    13. In Select Action, click Disarmed, then click Done
    14. Enter the desired name for the rule
    15. If desired, click Run at all times to edit when the rule will run
    16. Click to select At All Times for the rule will be carried out any time of day
    17. Click to select Only during the following times to determine the specific days and times the rule will be carried out
    18. Click to select the days the rule will be active
    19. Using the Starting at dropdown menu, click the start time for this rule
    20. Using the Ending at dropdown menu, click the end time for this rule
    21. After selecting times for the rule to run, click Done
    22. Verify the rule is configured with the correct settings
    23. Click Save

Arm on Double Swipe Rule

  • Arm on Double Swipe
  • Arm on double card swipe is a rule that arms your security system when valid credentials are presented at the door of your choice.
  • This rule can be configured to work on specific days of the week and times or can be set to function at all times.
  • The arm or disarm on double card swipe rule will not function if the door controller is without network connectivity.
  • To create a Double Swipe to Lock/Unlock rule using the Alarm.com customer website
    1. Log into the Alarm.com customer website
    2. Click Automation
    3. Click Rules
    4. Click Add New Rule, then click Event-Triggered Rule
    5. In the Name of Rule field, enter the desired name for the rule
    6. In Automate My, select Doors
    7. In When this Even Occurs, select A Badge is Double-Swiped By
    8. Using the second dropdown menu, select which door controller the rule should apply to
    9. In Perform this Action
      • Lock when unlocked; unlock when locked
      • Always lock
      • Always unlock
    10. In Select Devices, select which doors this rule should apply to
    11. In During These Time Frames, select when this rule should apply
    12. Click Save

Lock or Unlock on Double Swipe Rule

  • Lock or Unlock on Double Swipe
  • Lock or Unlock on double card swipe is a rule that arms the locks or unlocks a specific access control door when valid credentials are presented.
  • This rule can be configured to work on specific days of the week and times or can be set to function at any time.
  • The lock or unlock on double card swipe rule will continue to function while the access controller is without network connectivity.
  • To create a Double Swipe to Lock/Unlock rule on the Alarm.com customer website
    1. Log into the Alarm.com customer website
    2. Click Automation
    3. Click Rules
    4. Click Add New Rule, then click Event-Triggered Rule
    5. In the Name of the Rule field, enter the desired name for the rule
    6. In Automate My, select Doors
    7. In When this Event Occurs, select A Badge is Double-Swiped By
    8. Using the first dropdown menu, select either Employee or Manager
    9. Using the second dropdown menu, select which door controller the rule should apply to
    10. In Perform This Action
      • Lock when unlocked; unlock when locked
      • Always lock
      • Always unlock
    11. In Select Devices, select which doors this rule should apply to
    12. In During these Time Frames, select when this rule should apply
    13. Click Save

First Person In Rule

  • First Person In
  • The First person in rule can be used to unlock any door indefinitely when valid credentials are presented at a selected door.
  • The selected door then remains unlocked until a locking schedule occurs or someone triggers the door to lock.
  • This rule can be configured to work on specific days of the week and times or can be set to function at any time.
  • The first person in rule will continue to function while the door controller is without network connectivity.
  • To create a First Person In rule using the Alarm.com customer website
    1. Log into the Alarm.com customer website
    2. Click Automation
    3. Click Rules
    4. Click Add New Rule
    5. In the Name of Rule field, enter the desired name for the rule
    6. In Automate My, select Doors
    7. In When this Event Occurs, select First Person Enters a Door
    8. Using the dropdown menu, select whether the first person in is an Employee or Manager
    9. In Select Devices, select which doors this rule should apply to
    10. Click Save
  • Access Control doors can be added to any new or existing scene
  • This allows you to create unique scenes to open or close your business that triggers your security system, doors, locks, lights, and thermostats
  • Scenes that include door actions will not function if the door controller is without network connectivity
  • Set up Scenes
  • To set up Scenes using the Alarm.com app
    1. Log into the Alarm.com app
    2. Tap Scenes
    3. Tap + to create a new Scene
    4. To edit an existing scene, tap the scene, then tap Edit
    5. Tap Change Icon to select an icon and icon color for the Scene, than tap Done
    6. In the Scene Name field, enter the desired name for the scene
    7. In Devices, tap Add
    8. Tap Doors
    9. Tap to select the doors to automate the scene
    10. Tap Next
    11. Tap either Unlock or Lock
    12. Tap Done
    13. Tap Save
  • To set up Scenes using the Alarm.com customer website
    1. Log into the Alarm.com customer website
    2. In the Welcome card, click Scenes
    3. Click New Scene to create a new Scene
    4. To edit an existing Scene, click the Pencil icon
    5. Click the Scene icon to select an icon and icon color for the Scene
    6. In the Scene Name field, enter the desired name for the Scene
    7. Find the desired Access Control door, then select the device action to automate during the Scene
    8. Click Save
